  • All Coaches seeking appointment into a Coaching position with Coolbinia Bombers Junior Football Club (CBJFC) must complete this application and declaration in full. 

    All coaching appointments are for a period of 1 YEAR ONLY. As per CBJFC By-laws, all positions are automatically declared vacant at the end of each and every season. 

    This is the required form for applicants wishing to apply to coach a Coolbinia Bombers JFC team, including Auskick, Modifieds and Youth teams. 

    Please note that Assistant Coaches are NOT required to complete this application but must complete a Member Protection Declaration to meet Working with Children Legislation requirements prior to their commencement in the role.  Assistant coaches are also required to complete their Coach.AFL accreditation.

    Coolbinia Bombers JFC is a community focussed and inclusive club with core values of participation, fun, friendship and skill development.

    Requirements

    The CBJFC’s objective is to provide an environment for all of our players that:

    • Continually develops their skills
    • Maximises their participation on game day. This will be done by providing equal playing time amongst all players and playing in multiple positions throughout the year (Forward, Midfield, Backline)
    • Allows them to have fun with their mates
    • Is aligned with and meets the standards of the club’s Code of Conduct

    The club will select the best possible coaches to create this environment. 

    Accreditation

    It is a WAFC requirement for all appointed coaches to hold Foundation level accreditation for the group they are coaching (ie. Junior or Youth) as a minimum. Foundation level accreditation is an online process via Coach.AFL


    All coaches and assistants are expected to complete their Coach.AFL accreditation by the 31st January 2025.

    The Foundation courses are free of charge. No fee is payable.

    CBJFC strongly encourages Coaches to further and continually educate themselves wherever possible. Requests for financial assistance to complete additional training requires prior approval through the Coach Coordinator/s and/ or committee.

  • All coaches at CBJFC acknowledge and agree to abide and uphold the Rules and By-laws of the game in which we participate. Coaches must abide by the Spirit of Junior Football, Codes of Conduct and equal opportunity requirements of the WA Junior Football Competition.

    All coaches agree to abide by the Constitution, By-laws and Policies of the Coolbinia Bombers Junior Football Club.


    SPIRIT OF JUNIOR FOOTBALL
    (Competition By-Laws)

    Every participant understands that Junior Football in Western Australia is delivered to the Community with the Spirit of the Game in mind.

    It is incumbent on every participant irrespective of their place in the game, to ensure that they will:

    1.1.  Not focus on winning at all costs and understand that the role of Junior Football is to foster the development of junior players, volunteers, umpires, coaches and officials. Learning to win and lose is part of the developmental journey of a participant but must remain secondary to the primary focus of junior player development.
    1.2 Maximise the enjoyment and development of junior footballers.
    1.3 Provide our children with a game environment that is safe, fun and fair.
    1.4 Ensure that the values which add to the spirit of our game, which include fairness, equality, respect and teamwork are encouraged and celebrated.
    1.5 Uphold, promote and protect the Rules, Laws, Codes, Policies and Spirit of the game.
    1.6 Not accept poor behaviours around our game and deter practices that undermine our games environments (coaching, playing, volunteering, spectating and umpiring).
    1.7 Adhere to any directive issued by the games controlling bodies in the best interests of achieving the above.
    1.8 Coaches should adopt an athlete-centred coaching philosophy.

  • Coaches are obliged to understand and adhere to the True Sport – Coaches Code of Conduct as set out in the WAFC Competition By-laws. A failure to adhere to these requirements may see Coaching accreditation revoked. 

    The major objective of Junior & Youth Football is to provide an opportunity for all children to play Australian Football in a safe environment designed to maximise the acquisition of skill and provide enjoyment. The True Sport Codes of Conduct, if followed by all people involved in our game, should ensure the fulfilment of this important objective.

    TRUE SPORT – COACHES CODE OF CONDUCT

    1. Spirit of Junior Football
    ALL coaches must understand and adhere to BYLAW #1 ‘The Spirit of Junior Football’.

    2. #HAVEFUN
    • Ensure that players are involved in a positive environment where skill learning and development are priorities and are not overshadowed by a desire to win.

    3. #BESAFE
    • Be supportive at all times and refrain from any form of personal abuse or unnecessary physical contact with the players in your care.
    • Stress and monitor safety always.
    • In recognising the significance of injury and sickness, your will seek and follow the physician’s advice concerning the return of injured, concussed or ill players to training.
    • Keep informed regarding sound principles of coaching and skill development, and of factors relating to the welfare of your players.

    4. #BEHEALTHY
    • Be reasonable in the demands you make on the time commitments of the players in your care, having due consideration for their health and well-being.
    • Have due consideration for varying maturity and ability levels of your players when designing practice schedule, practice activities and involvement in competition.

    5. #PLAYFAIR
    • Abide by and teach the AFL Laws of the Game and the Rules of your Club, District and League/Association.
    • Display and teach appropriate sporting behaviour at all times, ensuring that players understand and practise fair play.
    • Reject the use of performance enhancing substances in sport and abide by the guidelines set forth in the AFL Drug Policy.

    6.#SHOWRESPECT
    • Display and foster respect for umpires, opponents, coaches, administrators, other officials, parents and spectators.

    7. #INCLUDEALL
    • Respect the rights, dignity and worth of all individuals within the context of your involvement in Australian Football, including refraining from any discriminatory practices on the basis of race, religion, ethnic background, or special ability/disability.
    • Avoid overplaying the talented players aiming to maximise participation and enjoyment for all players regardless of ability. When responsible for players in the 5-18-year-old age group, strive to ensure that all players gain equal playing time.

  • Coolbinia Bombers Junior Football Club has a duty of care to those associated with our organisation and our sport. It is a legal requirement that we check the background of each person over 18 years of age, who works, Coaches, Manages or has regular unsupervised contact with children and young people under the age of 18.   • All Non –parent volunteers are required to have a valid Working with Children check (ie. WWC card). 


    Should an applicant not currently hold a valid WWC Card, he or she will be required to submit an application prior to working at the Club. Evidence of application must be submitted to the CBJFC committee before starting any child-related work at the club.

    Fees associated with obtaining the WWC Check (as a volunteer) will be reimbursed in full by the club, after sending a valid receipt to treasurer@bombersjfc.asn.au

    4. I have not had any disciplinary proceedings bought against me by an employer, sporting organisation or similar body involving child abuse, sexual misconduct or harassment, or other form of harassment or acts of violence.
    5. To my knowledge there is no matter that the Coolbinia Bombers JFC may consider constituting a risk to its members, employees, volunteers, athletes or reputation by engaging me in a paid or voluntary position.
    6. I will notify the President of the Club immediately upon becoming aware that any matters set out in numbers 2 to 5 above have changed.
