  • Fossil Bay Special Character Commitment

  • To confirm my child/ren’s enrolment at Fossil Bay and my commitment to supporting the delivery of a Steiner education, I confirm my relationship to and preference for the school’s special character and acknowledge the following:

    • I understand that my child/ren will receive a Steiner education adapted by the College of Teachers to take into account the school’s place in the Aotearoa, its time context as a school in the 21 century, and its multicultural community built on the bi-cultural foundation of Aotearoa NZ.
    • I commit to actively engaging with and striving to become informed about the culture and philosophy of the Fossil Bay School and while learning about it, to respect and uphold this Special Character.
    • I undertake to support and uphold the school’s policy framework including protocols about communication, rules and guidelines and support my child/ren’s education by recognising the adverse developmental impact inherent in exposing children to the range of electronic media and cellular
      communication technologies.

I accept and will meet the following parent expectations:

    • To attend class parent evenings (usually one per term) as well as teacher-parent interviews as scheduled or required, and in the event of being unable to attend, will submit an apology prior to the meeting/interview to the teacher.
    • To develop and sustain positive relationships with all staff and members of the school community by engaging in positive and peaceful communication.
    • To read the school newsletter and any class or office communications as a means of being informed about parent meetings and other important school events.
    • To respond to requests regarding class activities (working bees, outings, camps)
    • To support the school festivals.
    • To participate in helping make fundraising initiatives a success.

  • Blanket Consent for EOTC

    Education Outside the Classroom
  • Education Outside the Classroom (EOTC) is the name given to all events/activities that occur outside the classroom, both on and off the school site.

Our school believes in using a range of environments and experiences to enhance our students’ learning. We have ready access to the beach and the bush in our area and beyond. We are also close to various built environments in our community. These areas are rich learning environments for our students both in and out of school. They need to learn how to be safe. Our school also values the concept of providing students with opportunities. Thus some of the learning for students occurs beyond the school site and this document is seeking your consent for your child(ren) to participate in such learning.

  • All EOTC activity categories require staff to undertake an analysis of the risks, and identify the management strategies required to eliminate, isolate and minimise the risks. Emergency procedures are also in place.

  • BLANKET CONSENT

I/we agree to the participation of our child in lower risk category A and B and C EOTC events while a student at Fossil Bay School.

I/we have provided the school with up to date medical, supervision and learning information through the enrolment form and will make every endeavour to keep this information current.
