What are we looking for?
Tuesdays & Wednesdays - One off or two-night performance runs, work in progress shows, community events (like community choir!), book or album launches etc
Thursdays - Arty Parties! A show or line up night, but with something a little special/extra fun. Think variety nights with an artistic element followed by a DJ, music gigs and more!
Fridays & Saturdays – Dance Parties! We love a late-night boogie under our beautiful disco ball. Hit us up with your party ideas and let’s chat!
Fringe Common Rooms at Trades Hall is more than just a venue for hire – it’s a home for vibrant and ground-breaking independent arts, music and events. All year round Common Rooms carries the torch for Melbourne Fringe’s deep commitment to rebellion, creativity, inclusivity and darn good times (with ripper dance floors, obvz). From gigs and live music to comedy, spoken word, theatre, cabaret, parties and meet-ups – whatever you’re up to, this is fully accessible common ground for everyone.
The Ballroom: a performance space & bar that holds up to 250 patrons standing or 114 seated theatre-style. Perfect for your one-off performance (comedy, cabaret, spoken word etc), dance party, book launch, film screening or panel event.
The Lounge: a second, intimate saloon-style space that holds up to 76 people and is ideal for workshops, meetings and rehearsals/works in progress.
Porque no los dos? For most events in the Ballroom, the Lounge can be used as a break-out area or backstage green room at no extra cost.
With a great bar, friendly staff and oodles of state of the art tech equipment, we're the perfect home of your next event! Can’t wait to welcome you.
Full tech specs and more detailed venue information can be downloaded here.
