TERMS & CONDITIONS
Please make yourself aware of the copyright conditions, filming and photography conditions, health and safety conditions, and condentiality conditions below.
COPYRIGHT CONDITIONS
Permission is given only for the approved use. New editions or re-use of images in other projects require new applications to be made.
The Applicant will not reproduce images or film footage of any objects from the Museum’s
collection and accepts that reproduction is not authorised. The Applicant accepts that filming or photography in the Museum does not give copyright in any images of artworks filmed or photographed.
The Applicant will supply the Museum with a list of all works that appear in any photographs printed or in film/video footage after editing.
Acknowledgement of Auckland Museum must accompany the reproduction of ANY collection material. The Museum prefers acknowledgement to appear adjacent to the reproduction. For television, films, videotapes and audio-visuals, acknowledgement in the credits is acceptable. Such acknowledgement must include the words “Auckland War Memorial Museum - Tāmaki Paenga Hira”.
Any reproductions (colour slides, monochrome negatives, photographic prints or digital
applications etc.) may not be made for publication or distribution without permission.
A copy of the publication or production will be provided to Auckland Museum free of charge.
FILMING/PHOTOGRAPHY CONDITIONS
Museum objects may not be touched or moved.
Filming or photography of Hotunui (the meeting house located in the Māori Court), the Holocaust Gallery is strictly not permitted.
Filming/Photography of school children is not permitted unless permission is given by the parent(s) and supervising teacher and a signed release form has been received for each child.
If you require electrical extension leads for the purposes of your filming, these must be self-supplied and be safety-tagged.
A maximum of two light sources are to be used, unless authorised by the Museum. Lights must be shut off except when actual photography is taking place.
Only LED lights are allowed as an additional light source. Museum objects made of organic
materials (everything except stone, metal, ceramic, glass) are degraded by UV and IR light
exposure. If you are using additional light sources, please avoid light falling on the displays unless absolutely necessary, and keep light intensities and duration of exposure to a minimum (e.g. turn lights on when not in use).
All light stands or similar equipment must be stabilised with sandbags, and are to be placed a minimum of 1.5 metres away from any objects. All equipment on stands must be placed at a distance that is greater than their height away from any objects.
All cables are to be positioned so as not to constitute a tripping or other hazard.
The consumption of food or drink is only permitted in the Auckland War Memorial Museum Grand Foyer space, the Kai Room or the Tuitui Cafe.
No food or drink is permitted in any of the Museum galleries.
No chemicals or hairsprays are to be used in the galleries.
If any extraordinary costs are incurred by filming or photography in the galleries, these costs will be on-charged to the Applicant.
The Museum reserves the right to change any arrangement if our representative believes that objects are being put at risk.
HEALTH & SAFETY CONDITIONS
I agree to observe all directions from the Museum representative relating to Health & Safety, the security of the site, and the property of Auckland War Memorial Museum.
I accept my obligations under the Health & Safety in Employment Act 1992, and I agree that I will comply with the provisions of the Act while working in the Museum.
CONFIDENTIALITY CONDITIONS
I agree that condentiality about back of house areas, including storage areas will be strictly
maintained by the photographer or film crew and that any footage not used in the final
photograph or film will be destroyed so that security around back of house areas is not
compromised.
No information about back of house or storage areas will be disclosed by the photographer or film crew.
