About Orange Sky
Orange Sky Australia (OS) is a not-for-profit organisation focused on the provision of free laundry and showers to people experiencing homelessness. We're growing, and fast. Since 2014, we've expanded our reach to every capital city in Australia and most recently, we have established Orange Sky New Zealand. Next steps include further growth in New Zealand, urban and remote Australia, and potentially elsewhere across the globe.
This diverse role will lead the Health, Safety and Environment function in supporting multiple organisational streams to deliver creative and fit for purpose health, safety and environmental solutions.
The ideal candidate will be a technical guru, but most importantly be able to influence the team to integrate a safety first culture with a collaborative and engaging style.
Our mobile services create a pretty unique environment and we’re always striving to do things better. Reporting to the Chief Operating Officer, this role requires a passionate, flexible and energetic health and safety professional to provide advice and technical assistance to inform and manage Orange Sky’s objectives in work health, safety and environment.
Lead the practical and scalable development and implementation of our WHS&E systems
Create user friendly policies, procedures and training materials
Monitor, measure and evaluate WHS&E performance
Mentor and coach leaders, staff and volunteers on WHS&E requirements and initiatives in an easy to understand format
Lead risk and incident management, including incident investigation and providing relevant input to OS’s disaster response service
Oversee workers’ compensation claim management, including coordination of return to work and rehabilitation plans
Convinced this is the role for you?
The ideal candidate will be:
Professional. Orange Sky is a fun place, but also a serious business with lots of moving parts. To be successful in this role, you’ll be a natural leader, influencer and people person. You will be an effective communicator with the ability to adapt your communication style to suit audiences at all levels. You’ll have relevant tertiary qualifications and significant experience in a similar role.
Unflappable. We need someone who can think outside the box, and understand our unique environment. You’ll thrive on the challenge of something new. We need someone with a knack for striking the balance between compliance with relevant legislation, Codes of Practice and Australian Standards and the ability to deliver the technical information into clear, plain English.
Believe in what we do. Whilst not essential, experience meeting the unique needs of a not-for-profit organisation is preferable, but you’ll have a genuine passion for our cause, and believe in our core mission to positively connect communities.
