Participants can enter under one of the three following categories (age as at 19th October 2019):
- Junior Idol – (8 – 12 years)
- Senior Idol – (13 to 17 years)
- Song-writer – (14-19 years)
There are two stages to the competition, Auditions, and Finals.
Auditions:
Auditions for Junior and Senior categories will be held at Classic Sounds, 223 Railway Ave Kelmscott on the following times:
- Junior – Saturday 14th September 2019
- Senior – Sunday 15th September 2019
- Songwriter – Sunday 15th September 2019
Auditions will commence at 9.30am on both days, participants will be advised of their audition time once the entry form has been processed. Auditions will be in blocks of one hour, e.g. you may be advised your audition will be between 9.30am & 10.30am on Saturday. Every effort will be made to ensure audition takes place within the time specified, however this cannot be guaranteed, and any delays on the day will be kept to a minimum.
For auditions, participants should prepare a song best suited to their vocal range. Applicants can perform the first three minutes of their song.
Participants need to submit their backing track (MP3 version) at time of application by responding to the confirmation email (Backing music only, no vocals on backing music). Participants may be accompanied by musical instrument (self only). Please note only a keyboard is available at either the Auditions or Finals and participant must supply their own instrument including lead. This must be indicated on entry form.
All participants will receive a certificate of participation and one free entry pass to the Make Smoking History Kelmscott Show.
Finals:
A Maximum of 10 Finalists will be chosen from each category to compete in the Finals at the Make Smoking History Kelmscott Show.
Senior Finals Winner will receive a $500 Bank Account and the two Senior Finals Runners Up will each receive a $200 Bank Account
Junior Finals Winner will receive a $300 Bank Account with two Junior Finals Runners Up will each receive a $150 Bank Account
Songwriter winner will receive a $350 Bank Account with one Runner Up receiving a $150 Bank Account
All Bank Accounts are with the Roleystone-Karragullen Community Bank® Branch of the Bendigo Bank
Musicians entering original songs are eligible for selection for the prize of a session with Corea Entertainment to be mentored on “Basics in Unpacking the Music Business”
Finalists are invited to a workshop with the judges to assist in all aspects of performance and self confidence, Tuesday 1st October, Juniors 4:00-6:30pm Seniors 7:00-9:30pm.
The judges’ decisions are final. Acts cannot contain any material that is not suitable for general public performance. Each competitor enters at the signatory’s own risk. The Kelmscott Agricultural Society (Inc) or those acting on their behalf or any associated sponsor for the Make Smoking History Kelmscott Show shall not be liable for any loss, damage or personal injury suffered by the persons entering in or attending the Kelmscott Idol competition.
Closing date for entry forms: Monday 2nd September 2019 at 5pm. Entry Forms must be signed by participants Parent or Guardian. The participant and the Parent Guardian signing the entry form must agree to be bound by all Rules and Conditions.
PRIVACY ACT STATEMENT
The information provided by you in this Kelmscott Idol Application is collected and used by the Kelmscott Agricultural Society (Inc.) (KAS) to organise the Kelmscott Idol at the Make Smoking History Kelmscott Show.
The KAS and associated sponsors may publish details such as your Name and age and photographs taken during the event in any KAS publication (including websites). Such information may also be made available to, and published by the media. The KAS may also use your contact details to contact you about future Events.
Participants may receive promotional offers and/or materials from the sponsor Roleystone-Karragullen Community Bank® Branch of the Bendigo Bank.
The KAS will not disclose your personal information without your consent for any other purpose unless required or authorised by law. You may request access to your personal information and if necessary, request that our records of that information be corrected, by writing to the Secretary, Kelmscott Agricultural Society (Inc.), PO Box 40, KELMSCOTT WA 6991.
Your signature on and/or lodgement of this entry form authorises the KAS and sponsors to use your name, age and photograph for KAS and publicity purposes as stated above. You also authorise the Society to store your contact details to enable contact with you about future Shows.
