  • RECOMMENDED NEW COVER an easy and valuable add-on to your existing policy - SPECIFIC INJURIES BENEFIT 

    *Recommended new cover - Asteron Life have introduced a NEW lump sum cover which we are recommending you add to any existing Asteron Policy - it covers you for 'Specific Injuries' you may incur and pays up to $5,000 pm in multiples of up to 60 months for the worst injuries. So great for broken arms, legs (1-3 months) all the way up to Paralysis (60 months). I have attached a flyer with further information.

    This cover is easily the most likely that you will claim and very worthwhile to avoid financial hardship when suffering from an injury.

    Real life example- “Donna” is a solicitor and one of the principals in her firm. She’s passionate about her career and horse riding. One day, Donna was cleaning out the stables and her horse kicked her. She fractured her pelvis and she was off work for four weeks.

    Unfortunately, this wasn’t a long enough time to trigger her Income Protection cover. Luckily, she had the Specific Injury Support Benefit – Lump Sum. With this extra cover, Donna was able to receive immediate payments for her injury. This extra monthly income let her pay her colleagues to cover her workload while she healed.

    Donna is a high-income earner. This means her weekly ACC compensation was capped and didn’t cover anywhere near her full income. But she didn’t need to worry about that. With the benefit in place, she was able to relax and recover without any financial stress. It also allowed her husband to take time off work to take care of her at home in the painful early stages.     Please confirm the following details for us to ensure our files and your lifetime cashflow graphs are up to date, please put a '0' or 'N/A' in the required fields if they don't apply to you  - 

  • 3. Inflationary Indexing and Rate for Age increases

    Please instruct us if you wish to stop your insured benefit increasing in line with inflation this year. This will reduce or stop any premium increases. See below for the details. This is quite a complex area, if you'd prefer to talk this through please make an appointment above at question 1. 

    Each year your insurer sends you an Anniversary letter for your insurances, to inform you of the premiums for the following year.

    There are two components to this, the first is age related and this is where we use ‘Level Premiums’ where appropriate to offset these rises, the second is CPI or Inflation Indexing the design of this being to ensure that the purchasing power of your cover keeps pace with inflation over the years. 

    However, you do have a choice with Inflationary Indexing, you can choose to turn them off until such time as you decide to turn them on again or you can choose to turn it off each year, one year at a time. You can even turn specific benefits on and off as you wish. 

    If you wish to change how your benefit is being indexed click here  and submit how you wish to instruct your insurer with regard to Inflationary Indexing. 

    Suffice to say, that if you wish to accept the CPI increase, and any rate for age increases then you do not need to do anything.

  • 4. Special event increases  

    Special events allow you to increase cover without underwriting, which can be very important for people who have developed health issues - events such as marriage, divorce, birth, death, new home loans, pay increases, a child starting secondary or tertiary education, plus every 5th policy anniversary. Also Kids Cover can be increased by $10k without underwriting for $1 pm at each of the their 6th, 10th, 14th and 18th birthdays. Please indicate below if you'd like to discuss.

  • 9. Introductions to TGN - I know that it is not easy but I just wanted to say that it is a great feeling when a client introduces a friend or family member to us as it is perhaps the greatest validation that the work we do for clients is making a difference, and I guess we all like to be valued.

    As discussed in the introduction above we believe you'd be doing a good thing in helping more people be properly insured, as many aren't and having level premiums can make a huge difference as people are more likely to have cover when they actually need it at 55-70 years old when things tend to go wrong health wise, instead of cancelling it in their 40-50's as it becomes too expensive, so in order to encourage you to make introductions I am offering a $250 gift voucher to say thank you for making the effort, this is at my discretion but suffice to say we would be humbled to look after anyone you introduce to us, and this is just a small way to say thank you for making the effort.  

    To make the process as painless as possible, this is how I suggest we make this work - 

    Step 1 – we like to take a personal approach, so we ask you to arrange a time with the person/ people you are introducing for us all to have a coffee, or a quick Zoom meeting together whichever is easier. The idea is that you can introduce your friend to us properly which allows them to feel comfortable about meeting and working with us and then we will make a time to have a financial review meeting with them if they wish to.   • 11. You have indicated that you wish to have an exclusion or loading on your current cover reviewed by the insurer. To do this please could you complete a new Medical Information Consent form and a Musculosckeletal Questionnaire they should only take a minute, the links are in the email you received for your Policy Annual Update.
