  • Life Membership

    Life membership is the highest award available to recognise the exceptional contribution of individuals to the association.  It is therefore only to be awarded to exceptional members.

    Nomination for Life Membership

    Any financial member may nominate another member for consideration for the Life Membership Award.  Nominations must be submitted online via the website and must be supported by two current financial members of the association who are unrelated.

    The nomination must set out the achievements and activities of the nominee and at a minimum must meet the award criteria as set out below.

    Award Criteria

    In considering the award of Life Membership an individual should have demonstrated significant, sustained and high-quality service enhancing the reputation and future of the association.

    These points will be taken into account when considering any nomination.

    The nominee’s length of exceptional service to the association shall be at least 5 years in either state or branch levels.

    The nominee has a meritorious service history which also reflects the dedication to the values of the association and the role of Business Manager held by the nominee in the Department of Education.

    The nominee will have provided valued leadership and/or be an outstanding model to the members general.

    Process for Assessment of Applications

    All nominations must demonstrate attainment of minimum service requirements and other details of exemplary service.

    The Management Committee will assess any nominations for Life Membership based on the established criteria.  The committee will discuss and consider applications prior to any conference or end of year functions. 

    Successful nominations that meet the requirement will be voted on and must be accepted by the Management Committee which requires a two thirds majority.  Those recommendations will be presented at a General Meeting.

    Life membership shall be conferred by a two third majority of financial members present at a General Meeting.

    Benefits of Life Membership

    In addition to the status of membership of a select Association, Life Membership will be recognised by:

    • Award of Life Membership
    • Exemption from membership fees associated with the association
    • Listing on the SBMAQ Website and other official documents.
    • Invitations to attend SBMAQ functions when executive believes it is appropriate.

  • Honarary Membership

     

     SBMAQ also values the assistance of those who may not be a member of the Association, who also strive to support, develop and to improve business outcomes for state school business managers in Queensland. These friends of the SBMAQ can also be nominated for honorary membership of the association.

    Nomination for Honorary Membership

    Any member may nominate a friend of the SBMAQ for consideration for the Honorary Membership Award.  Nominations must be submitted online via the website and must be supported by two current financial members of the association who are unrelated.

    The nomination must set out the achievements and activities of the nominee and at a minimum must meet the award criteria as set out below.

    Award Criteria

    Honorary membership can be provided to ordinary members on retirement who have maintained membership with the association for at least 10 years.

    Full rights to membership with no voting rights and are unable to hold office.

    Process for Assessment of Applications

    The Management Committee will assess any nominations for Honorary Membership based on the established criteria.  The committee will discuss and consider applications prior to any conference or end of year functions. 

    Successful nominations that meet the requirement will be voted on and must be accepted by the Management Committee which requires a two thirds majority.  Those recommendations will be presented at a General Meeting.

  • SBMAQ Significant Achievement Award

    Awarded each year at the State Conference. 

    Selection Criteria: Must meet all four criteria.

    1. Significant contribution to the position of Business Manager.
    2. Significant contribution to the work of the School Business Managers' Association over an extended period of time and in recent years.
    3. Demonstrated strong and effective professional leadership within the context of our positions in the Department of Education. 
    4. Must be a current member of the SBMAQ (if still employed as a Business Manager)

  • SBMAQ School Community Award

    Awarded each year at the State Conference. 


    Selection Criteria:  Must meet all four criteria.

    1. Significant contribution to the position of Business Manager within their school community.
    2. Active member of their Branch School Business Managers' Association over a period of time and in recent years.
    3. Demonstrated strong and effective professional leadership within the context of our positions with the Department of Education.
    4. Must be a current member of the SBMAQ.
  • SBMAQ Selection Process

    • A selection panel consisting of members from SBMAQ Executive + Branch Representatives of each nomination will be established.
    • The nominators may be contacted by a panel member to discuss their nomination.
    • Each nomination will be evaluated and rated against the above criteria.
    • Successful nominees will be invited to attend the SBMAQ Conference Awards Dinner.
  • SBMAQ Selection Criteria

    • Current/past SBMAQ membership confirmed.
    • Significant level of contribution to SBMAQ/BM Position.
    • Impact on profession, colleagues, and or leadership.
    • Achievement of outcomes .
    • Quality of achievement .
