About the scholarship:
The Gloria Brennan Scholarship was established to assist Indigenous Australians to undertake full-time study at a Western Australian university. Gloria Brennan was the first Aboriginal graduate of The University of Western Australia. The scholarship was established by the University of Western Australia (UWA) in collaboration with Department of Indigenous Affairs (DIA).
Eligibility criteria:
Scholarships are open to students who will be undertaking an approved course of study on a full-time basis at Curtin University of Technology, Edith Cowan University, Murdoch University or The University of Western Australia.
The scholarship is not available to applicants who have completed a degree or diploma from any tertiary institution either within Australia or overseas, or to students who will be employed on a full-time basis during the course of the academic year. Students who are enrolled in a tertiary Orientation or bridging course are NOT eligible for this scholarship.
While determined primarily on the basis of academic merit, the Selection Committee may also consider other factors such as need, proposed course of study and the long-term benefit to the wider Aboriginal community.
To be eligible for a scholarship, a student must be an Australian Aboriginal/ Torres Strait Islander person either (i) in accordance with the Commonwealth definition.or (ii) by the Indigenous Centre at the University where the student is enrolled.

Value:
The value of each award may vary but will not be greater than $1,000. Awards are made for one academic year but successful applicants may reapply where studies show consistently high levels of academic achievement.

To complete your application, you will need to upload the following documents:
- Proof of current, full-time enrolment
- Certified copies of your academic records
- Financial records (proof of ABSTUDY, allowances, parenting payments, pensions, etc.)
- Confirmation of Aboriginality/Torres Strait Islander descent
