A research degree such as a PhD or an MPhil at the University of Western Australia (UWA), would be an important step on the path to a research career in fields relating to the health and medical sciences across a range of scientific and clinical disciplines, toward the betterment of the health of Australian and international communities.
The information you provide by completing and submitting this form will assist in assessing your eligibility for Higher Degree by Research (HDR) candidature at UWA, help us identify a supervisor for your research project and could help in determining your competitiveness for a scholarship.
A HDR is 100% research and the resultant thesis must be a substantial and original contribution to scholarship, for example through the discovery of knowledge, the formulation of theories or the innovative re-interpretation of known data and established ideas.
By requesting to undertake a HDR, you are asking Academic Supervisor(s) and the University to commit a significant amount of time and funds to supporting your research. Scholarship funding is supported by Australian tax payers and the University is obliged to follow Australian government policy with regard to offers of admission and/or scholarship.
When accepting the offer of a place, you are also accepting the conditions governing the HDR candidancy. You may like to visit the UWA Handbook to read the rules.
