CONDITIONS OF ENTRY
The work must have been written principally (minimum 50% share) by an elected APRA writer member (or members with a combined share totalling a minimum of 50%) who are principally domiciled in or citizens of New Zealand.
The work must be original. It must not be an arrangement or adaptation of a traditional non-copyright work or any other original work.
The entered work must have been first publicly performed, broadcast, or made available online in New Zealand between 1 January 2017 and 31 December 2017.
A suitably inscribed, framed certificate.
A NZ On Air New Music Grant of up to $8000 to be spent on the production of an original song and music video by the winning writer/s.
The following is required:
i. Completion of an official entry form.
ii. A finished recording of the work as an MP3.
iii. A typed lyric sheet as a Word doc or PDF. Please include the title of the work but DO NOT include the name of the writer, band, or performers. If the work is not written in English, please include an English translation.
iv. All the above must be received no later than midnight on Monday 19 February.
a) A maximum of TWO works may be submitted by, or on behalf of, any one writer in any one award category. In the case of co-written works, a writer can submit TWO entries for each separate collaboration they participate in. (E.g. you can enter TWO songs you’ve written by yourself, TWO songs you’ve co-written with Group A, and TWO songs you’ve written with Group B etc.) A separate entry form is to be completed for each work.
b) The date of the first public performance of the entered work - along with the name of the website, channel, station, or venue where it was first broadcast or performed - MUST be notified.
c) The winner will be announced at the APRA Children's Music Awards in May***.
d) The NZ On Air New Music Grant is a funding agreement that the winning writer/s enter into directly with NZ On Air, under their own terms and conditions.
e) Unless specifically agreed, copies of all entry materials submitted shall be retained by APRA AMCOS.
f) The entrant shall (or shall cause the copyright owner of the entry, if different from the entrant) to permit APRA AMCOS and any person APRA AMCOS authorises to perform the entered work in, and as part of, any APRA AMCOS award ceremony, and to record it for those purposes, and the purposes of promotional use.
g) The entrant agrees to allow APRA AMCOS to use audio and video from the APRA Children's Award Ceremony for promotional purposes.
h) APRA AMCOS will have the right to print the names and likeness of any entrants in publicity in respect of the competition and all matters incidental thereto.
i) The entrant agrees to allow APRA AMCOS to stream the work/s and reproduce the lyrics for the purposes of judging.
j) The entrant agrees to be bound by APRA AMCOS' entry procedures, and by the rules and regulations established in this entry form.
k) APRA AMCOS shall have the right to interpret the entry conditions and to determine all issues arising from this contest. Any such interpretations and determinations shall be final.
l) The winner and finalists are decided by a judging panel convened by APRA AMCOS. The judges decision is final and no correspondence will be entered into.
m) Final entry is at the absolute discretion of APRA AMCOS.
n) The entrant is to ensure that all information given on the entry form is true and correct.
