The Throsby Big Brunch is a free community event focusing on shared food, harvest and conversation. You can reinvent the dining experience and strengthen an evolving community spirit that is becoming a hall mark of life in the five Throsby villages. The Big Brunch began as an Islington Park Placemaking initiative in 2010. The Big Brunch is now a significant annual event on the Throsby Villages Alliance calendar and much anticipated by residents in the Throsby Villages. The Throsby Big Brunch draws inspiration from the Sydney Crave Food Festival which includes a number of regional activities and runs during the month of October. More importantly, inspiration comes from a desire to reinvent the dining experience and strengthen an evolving community spirit that is becoming a hall mark of life in the five Throsby villages. In a world of take-away food and eating on the run, the experience of sitting at a table to enjoy good food and conversation is something of a lost art. This is the defining feature of this event - it is many people sitting at a communal table, taking time to enjoy the food, meet new people and celebrate living in a great community.Anyone from the Throsby Villages of Carrington, Maryville, Islington, Tighes Hill and Wickham can RSVP to reserve a spot at the long table to celebrate and share your culinary talents or seasonal harvest.
Art Bazaar has cemented its reputation as the event that showcases the Hunter’s creative & vibrant art community that locals & visitors look forward to three times every year. Visitors will also be delighted with the food & music being offered alongside our member’s stalls. Art Bazaar has developed into a major art event for the region which now attracts many visitors from out of the area and is the Hunter’s premier artisan and design marketplace. Art Bazaar is a great way to show families and visitors how wonderful our creative community is. Recent accolades include Volunteer Grants 2015, 2015 Hunter Local Business Awards Finalist, 2015 Stockland Community Grants Winner & 2014 QantasLink Hunter & Central Coast Awards for Excellence in Tourism Finalist. HAN is a non-profit membership of artisans from the Hunter who carefully hand pick stallholders to ensure that shoppers have an array of local, handmade, unique, original & quality products, making Art Bazaar an affordable opportunity for both the public & the creative people of Newcastle and the Hunter. Enjoy meeting the artists and designers who have carefully created for the reputable event providing access beyond the boundaries of the gallery.
