Welcome to the Marine Monstrosities Recycled Art Competition!
This year the Gimuy Fish Festival team invite you to be the BIG FISH in the little pond......
What we mean by that is we want you to demonstrate how to educate the world about the importance of sustainable sea management, proper waste management and effective recycling systems.
However, waste still ends up in the sea. This is why we need to practice the EIGHT R's:

Repurposing and Recycling are the last two R's ......this is where we want you to help.
We challenge you and your class to create a massive art piece that teaches the world about the marine animals we are protecting.
THERE ARE PRIZES TO BE WON!
Let's re-use all the waste that ends up in landfills or in our unique ecosystems and transform it into something spectacular to inform and inspire the community.
Here are the rules and what you will be judged on:
Your art piece will be....
-
Realistic! - We are asking you to create a marine creature. We want you to learn about your chosen creature and understand the ecosystem they live in, their eating habits and the risks to their survival.
-
Interactive! - What we mean by that is that people will be touching it so it will need to be robust to a certain extent.
-
Educational! This means you are teaching people something about sustainable sea management or interesting facts about your chosen sea creature.
-
Freestanding! - The art pieces will be displayed at the 2021 Gimuy Fish Festival at Fogarty Park. They will be outside in the elements for the day.
-
Big! - The bigger the better. Make an impact! We will arrange transport from your school the week before the event (29th Nov - 4th December). We will make it happen! You will have to finish the piece in this week and arrange pickup with us.
-
Made for recycled materials. - You will be judged on the % of recyclables used.
-
Recyclable! - Once the festival has finished we want to be able to recycle most if not all of the art pieces. Whether it finds a new home or we take it apart you need to consider its "End of Life Cycle" in the circular economy.
Awards are given for winning pieces.
Points will be given for all the above requirements.
Ask the family to support by bringing in their recycling!
These pieces will be used to create an atmosphere and beautify the festival.
