1. A minimum crew of 4 is required. The resume of a second qualified skipper must be submitted in advance and approved in advance. The purpose of the 2nd skipper is to provide a safety cushion for the remaining crew and vessel if the 1st skipper were to become incapacitated and have to leave the charter party.
2. Vessels are required to arrive at a designated safe harbor in sufficient time to be at anchor one hour prior to sunset. Vessels are restricted to the ports of Vieques, Culebra, Culebrita, Los Palamino and Fajardo. Cayo Luis Pena is allowed, in good weather, ONLY as a daytime anchorage.
3. CYOA does not provide any charts of the area you intend to visit. You will be required to produce current charts of the area you intend to visit during your checkout by our checkout captain.
4. If the chartered yacht does NOT have davits for hoisting the tender the tender bowline must be extended with a long line (use one or more dock lines) to increase the tow line length, reduce loading on the towing connection and keep the tender from running down the main vessel. DO NOT FORGET THIS EXTENSION, OR RUN IT OVER, AS IT IS NOT POLYPROPOLENE AND DOES NOT FLOAT. DAMAGE OR LOSS OF THE ENGINE OR DINGHY OR DAMAGE TO THE YACHT CAUSED BY RUNNING OVER THE DINGHY OR THE TOW LINE IS NOT COVERED BY THE PURCHASED INSURANCE.
5. CYOA does not have a chase call network or any other commercial arrangements in Puerto Rico. Incidental repairs to the yacht must be arranged by and on behalf of the charter party. Keep receipts for reimbursement by CYOA. Any expenditure, in excess of $50, must be authorized in advance by the CYOA office.
6. THERE WILL NOT BE ANY ADJUSTMENTS MADE FOR LOST TIME DUE TO MECHANICAL PROBLEMS OR WEATHER.
7. This approval is contingent. You will be required to orally explain your navigation plan for this leg of your trip during your charter checkout. Only then, after he is satisfied, will the dock manager issue the final OK for your trip to the Spanish Virgin Islands.
8. You are reminded that under the terms of the demise contract you are solely responsible for the yacht and its condition. If, in your opinion, there is even the slightest question as to the suitability of the yacht for the intended use, or the suitability of the weather, it is incumbent you exercise good judgment and prudent seamanship and remain in coastal waters.
9. The minimum charge for returning a vessel to CYOA that is left in the SVI is $1,000. Charges will be based upon out of pocket expenses for time and material plus loss of charter revenue, if any.
