  • Although the containers don't need to be squeaky clean, a quick rinse out helps for a few reasons:

    1. It's nicer for our employees. Washing out your containers makes their day (and working environment) just that little bit more pleasant (less smelly).
    2. Health and safety. Rotting food = germs. It also attracts bugs and rodents to our workplaces. Not nice at all!
    3. If there is a substantial amount of food or liquid waste in a container, it can contaminate all of the recycling around it. Your container and all of the 'clean' containers around it (or even the whole truckload) could get sent straight to landfill.
  • That was a tricky one!

In Wagga, it's best to leave the caps on, so they don't fall through the machinery. This ensures that the plastic caps also get recycled.

In Tumut and Cootamundra, leave the caps off (but still put them in your recycling bin). Because these plants are less mechanised, it can be a safety risk (think exploding bottles) if the caps are left on.

  • None of these are recyclable through your MRF.

Unfortunately all of our plants see these items on a daily basis. From needle stick injuries to potential contamination, bacteria and rodents, these items make life hard for our employees.

If in doubt, leave it out!

  • All of these are recyclable!

  • All recycling should be left loose in your recycling bin.

Due to time contstraints and health and safety precautions, any full bags will go straight to landfill.

  • Thanks for taking part!
We hope you learned a thing or two about recycling!!
