EDINBURGH POSTNATAL DEPRESSION SCALE
The following scale is used across the world to screen for postnatal depression. We realise that many parents are coming to the Parent Support Centre to access help for their baby. However we know how important it is to care for the parents as well. We would therefore appreciate it if you could complete this short questionnaire.
Please select the circle for each question that is the closest to how you have felt in the PAST SEVEN DAYS.
If you have any thoughts of harming yourself please call the Parent Support Centre and ask to speak to the triage midwife (Tel 07 3163 2229 Mon-Fri 7.30am-4.30pm) or Lifeline at anytime on 13 11 14.
Parenting can be very stressful. So that the parenting support centre can provide help when you need it most please can you answer the following question:
Thank you for your honesty. Please be assured we will phone you with an appointment as soon as possible. Alternatively you can call us directly on 3163 2229 (Mon-Fri 7.30am-4.30pm). If the centre is currently closed and you need help now please call 13 Health.
One or more of the responses that you have given indicate that you might be at a slightly increased risk of postnatal depression. In order for us to best plan your care and also measure whether the support you recieve at the Parent Support Centre has made a difference we would like you to complete the following questionnaire. It should only take a few minutes to complete.
Please read each statement and circle a number 0, 1, 2 or 3 which indicates how much the statement applied to you "over the past week". There are no right or wrong answers. Do not spend too much time on any statement.
The rating scale is as follows:
0 Did not apply to me at all
1 Applied to me to some degree, or some of the time
2 Applied to me to a considerable degree, or a good part of time
3 Applied to me very much, or most of the time
