A31-268 is an FBI cold case involving the disappearance of three American tourists in the highlands of Panama at a backpacker hostel.  Local authorities searched for three females, two Panamanian and one Colombian as subjects of interest in the case but they have not presented themselves for questioning.  The FBI was stymied in their investigation because of local superstition and lack of cooperation.  Recently new information from a possible witness has surfaced leading the FBI to reopen the case to private investigators and allow guest users limited access to its database for files related to the case.  The name of the backpacker hostel is The Lost and Found.

The Lost and Found is a backpacker hostel in Panama -- the last known whereabouts of missing witnesses and missing persons.   The FBI has asked the current hostel management to leave key areas and artwork throughout the hostel untouched as they may still hold clues to the events that occurred there.  The hostel management contacted Interpol one year after the crime to notify investigators that a security camera revealed a dark figure with a mask entering the premises in the middle of the night and crawled under the table in the main area.  Investigators did not consider this new information sufficient to revisit the crime scene.

The Lost and Found is also the title of a book written by one of the owners of the hostel based on the events surrounding this investigation.  Because at present no witnesses or suspects have been available for interview, the author work is considered conjecture and not evidence.

I had given up on ever finding my son alive  until I got a facebook message from someone claiming to be Maria.  You know it’s hard to shut it out, to get closure, and you get good days and bad days and more and more the good days outnumber the bad and then out of the blue someone rips the scab off and pours salt all over it.

So I did all those things.  You know all the things that you see to verify if the person is real or not.  A reverse image search on google.  Nothing turned up.. I mean that doesn’t mean it's Maria.   Asked her if she could Skype but she said that would be a threat to her security.  So I asked her to send me a photo of herself with a sign holding up my son’s name. She said she would do better than that.  If I could follow her clues she would send a video with his name and more.

Matthew Hope is one of three Americans that went missing at The Lost and Found backpacker hostel in Panama.  Maria Concepcion, a Colombian national is sought in connection to his disappearance but cannot be located.

Maria Concepcion is the principal person of interest case A31-268, the disappearance of three American tourists staying at The Lost and Found backpacker resort in Panama.  Samantha Hope has asked Interpol to open this case to the public to locate her son Matthew Hope.

The first clue Maria left to taunt investigators it seems.  One year after the disappearance of the American tourists, the security camera at The Lost and Found hostel revealed a figure in a dark robe and mask walking in the main hostel area and going underneath a table.

Managers of The Lost and Found reviewed their security cameras one year after the disappearances and saw footage of a hooded figure in a robe and rabbit mask in the principle area of the hostel. This unknown person went under a table apparently writing something.  The original writing was sent to FBI labs in D.C.  Under the table was written,

 

It’s time to move, stand, and get up,

Where the nocturnal gather there is a holy cup,

But you must exit to get what you need to know,

Lucid dreaming is an unconscious state by which the individual exerts some degree of control over their participation within the dream or be able to manipulate their imaginary experiences in the dream environment.  When the following video appeared on a Facebook page apparently created by Maria Concepcion, the author of The Lost and Found book found several lectures by the psychologist.  His particular method for lucid dreaming involved drawing symbols on the hands of the participants.  As they fall asleep the dreamer registers that the symbol has changed and they become aware that they are dreaming thereby manipulating and exploring the symbols of their dream to give them better capabilities for dream analysis and therapy.  The author of The Lost and Found book believes this is why there is egyptian iconography painted in various locations around the hostel especially regarding death and resurrection.

 

 In certain locations around the hostel someone, apparently in the night, left cryptic writing so far undeciphered and signed it as Isis.  Maria Concepcion, the main suspect in the disappearances of the three American men seemed to be obsessed with Egyptian iconography.  The symbol of Isis appears in the artwork around the hostel including the stairs down to the reception area and the kitchen.  This artwork may have something to do with Maria’s dreams and the process of lucid dreaming she was involved with.  Shortly after the cryptic writing appeared Samantha Hope received the following image in an email.  "I have hidden four on twisted paths," was written in the subject field of the email.  The image appears larger when opened in a new tab.

Osiris is the Egyptian god of death and resurection.  Why Maria painted images of him and Isis is unclear. 

Samantha Hope, the mother of one of the missing, received a seemingly nonsensical email that could be from Maria.  The email simply had Grail in the subject heading and the following image. At first investigators thought it was the image of a gate but this appears to be incorrect.

Maria’s diary has many nonsensical scribbles regarding Freemasons and a lost gold mine.  The gold mine may be in reference to the nearest town, Valle de la Mina and the Freemason references may have something to do with one of the missing Americans who was a Freemason.

 

The only words that didn’t not seemed to be random were copied lyrics from a song by The Doors:

 

Weird scenes inside the gold mine

Lost in a Roman wasteland of pain

And all the children are in insane

The blue bus is calling us

The killer awoke before dawn, he put his boots on

He took a face from the ancient gallery

And he walked on down the hall

 

He went into the room where his sister lived, and, then he

Father, yes son, I want to kill you

Mother, I want to...

The principal suspect, Maria, seemed to be obsessed with someone or something called Shekinah. Paintings in the kitchen of The Lost and Found are believed to be of Shekinah.  A private investigator in Colombia discovered birth certificates for Maria Concepcion and Shekinah Concepcion, born seconds apart.  A church in Medellin has a baptism certificate for Maria but no other records could be found for a sibling.  But Shekinah could be of a more esoteric interest for Maria.

 

Shekinah represents the feminine attributes of the presence of God (Shekinah being a feminine word in Hebrew) It is through the Shekhinah that humans can experience the Divine.  The word Shekinah appears in a diary Maria left behind at The Lost and Found in this esoteric context.

 

One year after the crime the mother of Mathew Hope received an email with the word Shekinah in the subject heading:

Where the holy grail and single eyes stare you must go back,

The walls will be transformed by the black.

If anyone asks what you are looking for just tell them you are looking for The Black.
