Adopting a pet may be a more involved process than you expected, and it is important that you understand two things: 1) the process is the same for everyone and 2) Everything we do is for the best interest of the pets in our care and is aimed at giving them the best possible chance of finding a permanent home. Dog/puppy adoptions require a minimum 24 hour wait period and there are times that other pets are not ready to leave our care immediately because of medical issues (illness, in need of spay/neuter) or delays in getting information from landlords/veterinarians. Before you can adopt a pet, you must complete this Pet Adoption Application, designed to help people understand the long-term responsibility of owning a pet and to ensure that all adoptions are in the best interests of the pets. Please ensure you are certain you are willing to commit to the pet for the pet’s natural life. We want the relationship between you and your new companion to be a long and happy one. You may have questions or problems that come up after you bring your new companion home and we want you to know that we are always happy to help you solve them. It will take some time for your new companion to become adjusted to a new home. The adjustment period can take as little as two weeks (or less) to several months. It is very important that you give your adopted companion adequate time to adjust to your environment and to go through the training process. Consistency, repetition, and lots of praise are important concepts to remember in training your new companion. THE MINIMUM AGE TO ADOPT IS 19 YEARS OF AGE.
