SUBMISSION OF ENTRY
Please submit your entry form, entry fee, images, artist statement and artist biography by Friday 8th September 2017;
There is a $30 administration fee per artist and is to be payable via credit card or EFT.
Artworks are not eligible for selection unless payment of entry fee is made in full. The fee applies to all artists and is non refundable
Included with the entry fee of $30 all artists must complete the entry form with an artist’s statement, biography, and images.
PRIZES & AWARDS
· $15,000 Sculptures in the Garden & Mid-Western Regional Council Acquisition. SIG & MWRC will be purchasing a sculpture or sculptures from the 2017 exhibition up to the value of $15,000. The acquired work/s will be part of the Mid Western Regional Council public art collection.
· $5,000 Moolarben Acquisition Prize. The winning acquisition will be part of the Mid-Western Regional Council’s public art collection.
· $5,000 Friends of Sculptures in the Garden Acquisition Prize. The winning acquisition will be part of the Mid-Western Regional Council’s public art collection.
· $500 People's Choice Award
SENSORY SCULPTURE SECTION
This year Sculptures in the Garden is adding a sensory component to the exhibition. If you have a sculpture that can be felt, heard or even smelt and you are happy to potentially have guests touching your work, you may want to enter it into this section. The idea is to encourage visitors to experience sculpture without the sense of sight in acknowledgement of our association with the Guide Dogs. The pieces will be displayed throughout the exhibition and marked as a Sensory Sculpture.
SELECTION PANEL FOR WORKS & PRIZES
The Selection Committee will consider all entries and their decision on works accepted will be final. Artists both successful and unsuccessful in their entry will be notified before Friday 15th September 2017.
All works must be professional finished for public exhibition and be the original work of the submitting artist. Any works that is not fit for exhibition will be knocked back on viewing.
An independent selection panel will select the prize winners. Judges will be named on the Sculptures in the Garden website prior to the opening of the exhibition. Any decision by the selection panel is final.
INSTALLATION & REMOVAL OF SCULPTURES
All sculptures are to be delivered and installed on FRIDAY 6th OCTOBER between 7am - 12pm to ‘Rosby’, 122 Strikes Lane, Eurunderee via Mudgee.
Artists are responsible for installation and removal of their work. SIG will have a crane & tractor onsite for installation of larger works and the artist must supervise and be responsible for any damage to their work and the surrounding area. All sites must be returned to their original condition after their work has been removed.
The Artist, or representative of the artist, will be responsible for maintaining the presentation of their work throughout the exhibition, especially in the event of severe weather conditions.
At the conclusion of the exhibition, sculptures that are not sold can be collected in person from Rosby after 4pm Sunday 8th and from 8am Monday 9th October 2017. Collection outside these dates must be arranged beforehand with Kay Norton-Knight. Sculptures cannot be removed until after the exhibition has closed.
Artists are responsible for the transportation of their sculptures to and from the exhibition. Freight and transport costs in both directions are the responsibility of the artists.
All risk during the exhibition remains with the artists at all times and there is no insurance cover for damage to or theft of any items. Artists are responsible for their own insurance cover if insurance is required. Whilst we will endeavor to take good care of all the artworks whilst on display, we will not be held responsible for any damage or theft of any items.
All works are to be available for sale during the exhibition. Works must be priced to sell with no discounts allowed at end of exhibition. Sculptures in the Garden will retain a 25% commission on all sales. Please take this into consideration when advising us of your selling price. It is a condition of entry that artist's bank account information is provided with each entry.
For all sculpture sales: transport, removal and insurance will be the responsibility of the artist and purchaser.
Site selection for all sculptures in the exhibition is at the discretion of the Sculptures in the Garden curator.
IMAGES OF WORKS
Each work submitted requires at least TWO good quality JPEG images (minimum 300 dpi). The second image is required to be taken from a different angle to help with the selection process. The image provided by the artist will be included in the catalogue. The artist authorises Sculptures in the Garden to reproduce the artwork in the exhibition catalogue, publicity, in media releases and other promotions in relation to Sculptures in the Garden.
