• The Word of God - Day 3
Breathed out by God
  • Put your hand to your mouth and read 2 Timothy 3:16. What do you feel against your hand?

  • 2 Timothy 3:16 All Scripture is breathed out by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, and for training in righteousness,

  • What produced the breath that you felt?

  • Keeping in mind the breath that you felt against your hand while you spoke, what do you think is communicated by the description of Scripture being breathed out by God?

  • The Word of God - Day 3
Breathed out by God
  • From 2 Timothy 3:16 we see that Jesus and His Apostles taught and believed that God was the ultimate author of Scripture. He is its source. Scripture is God's word.

  • With the teaching of 2 Timothy 3:16 in mind, what place of authority do you think the Scriptures should have in our lives?

  • The slider below represents your level of submission to the Bible's authority
(0 = the Bible has no authority, 100 = the Bible has absolute authority).

If someone was to look at your life right now (thoughts, actions, feelings etc), where on the slider do you think they would put you? Explain your answer in the box.

  • In this meditation we have seen that Jesus viewed the Scriptures as being the very words of God.

In the next meditation, we will consider how the Divine authorship of Scripture relates to it's trustworthiness.

Until then may the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you.
