There are two types of registered White Swiss Shepherds available in Australia

1. WSSDCA White Swiss Shepherds:

Registered with the White Swiss Shepherd Dog Club of Australia Inc. (WSSDCA Inc.)

2. ANKC White Swiss Shepherds:

Registered with the Australian National Kennel Council (ANKC).

WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE?

The White Swiss Shepherd dog was provisionally recognised by the Fédération Cynologique Internationale (FCI) (English: World Canine Organization) in 2002, and was definitively accepted in 2011.

The Australian National Kennel Council Ltd (ANKC), is considered the administrative body for pure breed canine affairs in Australia. The ANKC and FCI have an agreement which bounds the ANKC to register and recognise all the breeds which are recognised by the FCI, including the White Swiss Shepherd Dog.

The WSSDCA Inc. was established in the year of 2000 to continue the governing of breeding and registration of our Australian White Swiss Shepherd dogs. White Swiss Shepherd dogs within WSSDCA registry date back to 1987. The Club are dedicated to the betterment and welfare of the White Swiss Shepherd Dog throughout Australia without bias or discrimination. The WSSDCA upholds strict criteria for WSSDCA dogs to be upgraded for breeding and breeders agree to meet standards of welfare for their dogs and puppies. Currently, there is no agreement between the WSSDCA and ANKC or the FCI to recognise WSSDCA White Swiss Shepherd dogs. Consequently, at this time they are unable to be registered on the ANKC Main or Limited registers which allow them to participate in Conformation Shows.

WSSDCA White Swiss Shepherds are currently able to be registered with the ANKC on the Sporting Dog Register which allows undesexed dogs to participate in ANKC sanctioned dog sports and be eligible for ANKC sporting dog titles.
