There are two types of White Swiss Shepherds available in Australia
1. Australian White Swiss Shepherds:
Registered with the White Swiss Shepherd Dog Club of Australia Inc. (WSSDCA Inc.)
2. Imported White Swiss Shepherds:
Registered with the FCI representative in Australia, Australian National Kennel Council (ANKC).
WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE?
The White Swiss Shepherd dog was recognized by the Fédération cynologique internationale (FCI) (English: World Canine Organization) in 2002, after this recognition the ANKC was obliged in their Associate membership agreement with FCI to recognize White Swiss Shepherd dogs that were imported into Australia. This recognition was not extended to the Australian White Swiss Shepherds established here. The WSSDCA have made applications to request recognition to no avail.
The Australian White Swiss Shepherd dogs within WSSDCA registry date back to 1987 with many foundation dogs listed as Unknown Date of Birth. The WSSDCA Inc. was established in the year of 2000 to continue the governing of breeding and registration of our Australian White Swiss Shepherd dogs. We are dedicated to the betterment and welfare of the White Swiss Shepherd Dog throughout Australia without bias or discrimination. There is a strict criteria for our dogs to be upgraded for breeding and breeders agree to meet standards of welfare for their dogs and puppies.)
Our dogs are permitted on the ANKC sporting register, entire. (exemption regarding de-sexed animals only) We are not permitted in obedience events or at Dog Shows. More information can be found on our website at www.wssdca.org.au or contact our Secretary with any questions before you sign this form.
