All local councils have a specific number of domestic animals permitted on one property. Additional permits can be organised through your council. Please look up these details on their website under the animal management section to be able to answer the next question.

VETERINARIAN CARE: Vaccinations- kittens & puppies need 2 or 3 vaccinations whilst they are young. This pet will be up to date with their vaccinations but it also may mean that it could be due soon which will be at your cost. After their last puppy / kitten vaccination they are required to have one on a yearly basis.

'Prevention is better than cure' for pets as well as people. This animal should have a veterinary consultation every 6 months if not yearly (with the vaccinations) as veterinarians will be able to pick up on things that you cannot early, before symptoms arise.

In the event that the pet becomes ill, you are required by law to have the animal seen to by a veterinarian within a timely manner.

Funds can be of a concern when a pet becomes ill or an emergency arises and unfortunately there is no Medicare for pets. How-ever, there is Pet Insurance. Pet Insurance would have saved the lives of and/or kept a lot of our rescues with their original families so please take Pet Insurance into consideration. Flea & worm prevention- what may you use and what is a estimated price a month?

Then, there can be $10,000 or more worth of surgery fee's if the pet breaks a limb or two, eat's something it shouldn't have etc..

The above questions were just to get you thinking about the comitiment you are about to make. We want to place our animals in stable home where they will never be homeless again.

We would also like you to have a think about the following as this pet may have 10-15 years with you:
Where will this pet stay if you went on holidays?
If you move house, (especially into a rental) will this pet be accommodated to come with you?
If you have a human child (or more children) will you accommodate this pet as well as new arrivals to the best of your abilities physically & financially if needed?
Basically, just to make sure... are you looking at providing the best food, healthcare, physical & mental stimulation, love & care for this pet for the rest of its days?
