West Virginia Legislative District # 58 Citizen Survey

Please answer the following questions on a scale of 1-5 (1 means strongly disagrees and 5 means strongly agrees)

• The 2nd Amendment to our United States Constitution combined with the Section 22 of the West Virginia Constitution sets out our right to keep and bear arms in West Virginia. Are the current firearms permit laws a violation of our rights? How important is it that the West Virginia Legislature pass a “Constitutional Carry” law, clarifying that any law abiding citizen who owns a firearm can “bear” it without special permission from the government?

• Do you have a 4th Amendment Right to your own blood? During the last West Virginia legislative session, a majority of both Democrats and Republicans passed House Bill 2513 and the Governor signed it into law, giving law enforcement officers the right to take your blood without your permission or even a warrant, in clear violation of our Constitution’s “Bill of Rights”. Under this new law, if you refuse to submit to this warrant-less search, you automatically lose your drivers license for 45 days. While reasonable citizens are opposed to driving under the influence, how important is it to require law enforcement officers to obtain a warrant prior to forcibly taking your blood?
