Jr. High Honor Band is comprised of students from the SCMMEA schools. Students are nominated by the band director(s) and then are chosen by professional draft. Please nominate your students in order according to ability. Be aware that you will likely have more students participate in the band if you diversify your entries. Smaller sections (especially Alto Saxophone and Percussion) tend to fill up quickly. If you nominate multiple students on the same instrument it will be unlikely they will all be selected.You can nominate up to 10 entries per grade, and those students need to be ranked in order of ability. The first choice from each grade will be taken no matter what, so if you have a student that you want placed in the group FOR SURE then put them first. The goal will be to place 8% of your enrollment into the group, but this will need to be flexible based on the number of schools and nominations. For Example: if a band has 50 members in 8th grade band then we try to place up to 4 students form that school in the honor band.
